Plain-language draft for the closed beta

Your information should help an adoption—not become the product.

Ghar is being built around data minimisation, deliberate sharing and human control. This page describes the closed-beta approach and will be reviewed before public launch.

Last updated 25 September 2026

What Ghar may collect

  • Your email address and basic account information.
  • Information you voluntarily add to an adoption profile.
  • Animal photographs, descriptions, care status and approximate locality submitted in a listing.
  • Interest requests, conversation messages and safety reports needed to operate the adoption journey.
  • Minimal technical information required to diagnose crashes and failed actions. Message contents, adoption-profile answers and precise location are excluded from analytics.

What is public

An animal's profile may be publicly browsable. It can include photographs, personality, general care information and an approximate city or neighbourhood. Caregiver phone numbers, email addresses and exact locations are not part of the public listing.

What is shared privately

An adopter's profile is shared only when they deliberately send an interest request for a particular animal. Only the relevant caregiver can review it. Private chat opens only if that caregiver accepts the request.

How information is used

Information is used to provide accounts, publish and manage animal listings, route adoption requests, enable accepted conversations, prevent abuse, respond to reports and improve reliability. Ghar does not sell personal information or use it for behavioural advertising.

Service providers

Ghar relies on carefully selected infrastructure providers for authentication, database storage, file storage, email delivery, hosting and limited technical diagnostics. Providers receive only the information required to perform their role and are not authorised by Ghar to market to users.

Control and deletion

People can edit or withdraw profiles, pause or remove listings, close conversations and request account deletion. Some limited records may be retained when necessary to investigate safety reports, prevent repeated abuse or satisfy legal obligations.

Safety and age

The closed beta is intended for adults. Ghar will never ask somebody to publish a home address, government ID or personal phone number in an animal listing or adoption profile.

Stories from Ghar

Sharing a story is optional. We store your chosen public name, animal’s name, words, photographs, optional video and publication permission. You may add a private email for contact about that story, but it is not required and is never displayed publicly or used for marketing.

Drafts and submissions are stored using Cloudflare database and file storage. They remain private until a Ghar reviewer approves them. Reviewers can make light edits and keep the original submission for reference. Later edits require approval; an earlier approved version remains public until replaced or withdrawn.

A necessary, private cookie lets you return to your stories in the same browser for up to one year. It is not device fingerprinting or cross-site tracking. Other people using that browser may be able to open your drafts. Clearing cookies or changing browsers can remove this access.

The storybook can also remember the last public story you were reading and your place in it, using storage on this browser only. This bookmark is not sent to us, expires after 30 days, and can be removed by clearing this website’s browser data. Anyone sharing the browser may see it.

We resize photographs and remove standard photo location metadata. Videos are optional, limited to 60 seconds and 40 MB, and never autoplay. Check the image, audio and surroundings for private details, and get permission from people who appear. Do not include exact addresses, personal documents or music you do not have permission to publish.

When enabled, Resend sends a generic review reminder to Ghar’s administrator. The reminder does not include your story, media or contact email. Automated contributor emails are not enabled. Your review status and any note remain visible in your original browser.

You can withdraw a story from your private writing page. Stored drafts, original submissions and uploaded media remain until removed. For changes from another browser or deletion of stored content, contact noneedact@proton.me with the story title. We will verify ownership before acting.

Your language preference

Your language preference is saved in this browser. We do not send your stories to a translation service. Changing language never changes the words you write in a story.
